* Swann Galleries' novel Photography Sale saw a fair amount of the 449 parts go unsold. But of the haphazards that did sell, respectable prices were achieved. Among the highlights were a nearly full set of Edward S. Curtis' "North American Indian," which sold within estimate for $607500; a unique photographic print of "View from Pont Transbordeur, Marseilles" (1928) through Herbert Bayer, which sold above estimate for $68500 (est $30000 to $50000); and a photograph by the agency of Thomas Eakins used as a consideration for his painting "The Biglin Brothers Turning the Stake," which sold below estimate at $51750 (est $70000 to $100000)
